virtually no shade, so take one of those little pocket umbrellas! Also take as much water as you can carry. At least 3 litres!

Seville to Guillena. long and arduous, through open countryside, with virtually no shade. luckily we thought to pack a couple of pocket umbrellas as a few kilometres away from Guillena the temperature hit 40°c!!
The first part has a couple of small towns, with shops, but once you reach the old Roman road there's nothing until the destination, so be sure to take enough with you to last, no matter how heavy it feels! we have a 1 to 1,5L CamelBack each, which we carry on our fronts, a 1.5L bottle of water each, in pouches, and a backup camping water carrier from Decathlon, which has to be held in the tops of our backpacks, with around 2 to 3L in each. This is pretty heavy to begin with, but obviously gets lighter as you go, and you can always dump what you likely won't need - like we did - as you get nearer to Guillena. Better to have too much water than not enough! :)
