Heysen Trail - Day 51 Hawker to Calabrinda Creek

I set off very early with ice on all the windows and paths but walking a quick few kilometres I soon started warming up. Today was one of the most sociable days I have ever had on the Heysen. I soon reached Mt. Elm School Campsite where I bumped into Dave who was section hiking from Quorn to Hawker. He actually lives only a few kilometres from me on the Fleurieu Peninsula. After a quick break for some food and drink it was time to say goodbye and continue on my way to Calabrinda. I soon came across 2 section hikers who were walking a section and had left a car at Black Gap. After a brief chat I carried on trying to pick my way through the boulders that were scattered along the path. Not long before Calabrinda I bumped into Bovey Badger and by this time I was getting very tired so a quick chat and then continued on the gravel road to cross the creek and pitch my tent. Whilst I was doing this the support crew for the guys chasing a fkt arrived and sure enough 5 minutes later along came the guys. A brief food stop and then they ran off again to squeeze in a few more hours before bedtime.
