Throwley Old Hall and Beeston Tor

From National Trust car park at Ilam Hall to footbridge across the River Manifold and on past Musden Grange to the remains of Throwley Old Hall. Over the hill to Beeston Tor and the confluence of the rivers Manifold and Hamps. Up a green lane to Soles Hollow and Old Soles Wood on to Slade House and Calton. Cross fields to wooded, steep-sided valley of Musdon Wood back to Rushley before returning to Ilam.

Hiking/Backpacking

Cafe and toilets at NT Ilam House which has extensive parkland with lots of unusual and veteran trees that are well worth exploring. Don’t miss the mausoleum. Route itself has great views of Peak District countryside.
