Great for an easy afternoon hike. There are many spots to dip into the water if that suits you. Also, be on the lookout for deer.

“Sometimes a dog is as good as any man...” Holden and I rocked out to C. Brown on our way to Red Top Mountain today. It’s the local State Park that really is nice. Today we did the Etowah River Lakeside Loop, White Tail Trail and Sweetgum Loop Trail with a little bit of off-trail exploration.
The weather was great - finally an overcast day that wasn’t too hot. We did 4.2 miles of pretty easy terrain for a leisurely afternoon. Holden was the champ he always is but I don’t think he will ever be a water dog. I tried to get him in the lake with me to wade around (once again) and he was out pretty fast.
These Red Top trails are really nice and I actually like them better than Homestead Trail. Sweetgum gives great variety as far as water and woods - and also deer! Overall the trails are also wonderfully marked throughout the area which makes navigation a cinch.
