We (being myself and friend Bec) had planned to hike the 5 day Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail, but the weather decided otherwise. 2 days in a row the ferries were cancelled due to gail force winds! After the first day cancellation Plan B was to do the KWIT in 4 days by getting dropped to the start of the 2nd day. The hike today was Plan C!
We parked at Trig Campground then walked to Eagle Waterhole Hikers' Hut for our lunch stop. We continued to Cobbler Hill Campground to add on some kilometers. On the way we passed a school group of about 8 year 10 students. They had no teacher and were doing a self guided walk! Going on mutiple camping trips is a part of a SACE program some students do. They came from Fishery Beach.
Tonight we are sleeping in the hut which is a first for both of us. The students are separated between the hut and tents. The hut has sleeping bunks for 6 people.
It was a good day hiking! This is a bonus trip because we have rescheduled KWIT for late September.
