Road Trip: Lake Placid ~ NYC

Meant to get up earlier and hit Cascade and Porter before heading back to the city, but overslept! So typical of me! Haha It doesn’t mean, however, I won’t squeeze in some fun before hitting the road. Ate breakfast at Farmhouse Cafe followed by a quick pit stop at one of my favorite breweries, Big Slide, to commemorate my successful summit of the same mountain yesterday. I meant to spend the night last night drinking good beers, but after feasting like a beast at China Buffet, I was too sleepy to do anything. Anyway, tasting notes... Berliner Weiss: Nice refreshing sour. Great way to start off on a snowy day. (4.5/5) Cranberry Sour: Good solid sour with tartness. Almost has this bubbly Champaign-like feel to it. Can barely taste cranberry other than the color that came from the fermentation process. (4.5/5) Hot Pepper Pale Ale: Almost overwhelming hot pepper right to your nose; but goes down fairly smooth. Not spicy, but lots of green peppers bursting in mouth. Hint of little more spiciness would have made this beer better. (3.75/5) Cinnamon Stout: Perfect amount of cinnamon compliments the softness and creaminess of the oatmeal stout. Perfectly well-balanced and delicious! Now the pepper ale is kicking in and burning my throat. The mildness of this Stout balances it out well. (4.75/5) Santa Quad: The Best Belgium quad I tried in America! Nice barrel flavor, raisins, lots of fruits, right amount of acidity from microbes and Brett to balance with malt. Absolutely delicious! (5/5) Ledge Hill Brewing Co. (opened in June, 2017) Our House (Lakeside Sour Ale): Nice clean sour with a hint of green apples. Well done! (4.5/5) Hometown Pilsner: Delicious Pilsner with floral taste at finish. Very clean and drinkable. Delicious... and this means a lot coming from a guy who described Pilsner rather stale and boring. (5/5) The Distant Future (Pale Ale): Very Nice grapefruity aroma which raised my expectations bar, but it has funky bitter finish. Nice creamy light yellow color to the brew. Once he gets the balance correctly, it’ll be really nice. (2.5/5) Radley (American IPA): Juicy IPA, not too citrusy, not too tropical. Well balanced; very good ipa! Slight points deduction on the irony aroma. (4.5) Delia (Amber): So far my least favorite. Not Amber. Not good... ok not my taste. (1.5/5) The West Porter: Nice malty Porter with lots of raisins. Almost has the taste for the barrel-age. Delicious! (4.5/5)
