~ Disclaimers ~
Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions and bring enough water, snacks and/or lunch based on your own needs. Individual needs vary, and the trip leader is unable to provide a checklist that would be appropriate for everyone. Please know your own needs based on the trip descriptions, hiking profile, weather, health, and medical conditions amongst other factors that could affect your list of items to bring to the event.
As with all of my hiking trips, you have to decide if this hike is the “right” event for you given the distance, elevation gain, duration, and moving and average paces that are all provided in numbers. There are no universal definitions of descriptive adjectives, such as "easy", "moderate", "difficult", "slow" and "fast", and I would like to refrain from using those fuzzy words in my trip descriptions. Please know your current fitness/health conditions, stride, average hiking pace for similar terrain, diet, sleep, medication(s) and anything else that could possibly affect your physical conditions and performance on the date of the event and decide on your own if you can undertake this event safely.
By attending this event, the trip leader will assume that you 1) have read through the full write-up and are in full agreement upon the terms and conditions stated herein, 2) have carefully reviewed and studied the map prior to the event, and 3) be aware of the planned route, if not downloaded the referenced Ramblr trip (in your app or in .gpx or .kml file formats) along with the offline or paper map, for your reference. Furthermore, you are responsible for your own navigation or backup plans in case you fall behind the stated hiking pace or you decide to bail out of the planned hike.
Last, but not least, please address all your questions, concerns and ride share logistics by 21:00 ET the night before the event. The leader will quickly review the email and discussion boards of the event's pages on Facebook and Meetup first thing in the morning, but would like to minimize the last-minute scrambles as best as he can. The leader will have his phone in the airplane mode during the event in order to conserve the battery and to engage in the conversations with the participants. Please do not expect any responses until he returns home later in the evening.
