Hoppy Tr’Ale – Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery The backdoor terrace facing the Hickory Nut Gorge and Chimney Rock behind is absolutely gorgeous, but you are paying for the settings and view more so than the brews, food and services, which are all mediocre at best. I tried Lazy Lion Lager, Devil’s Head Red Ale and English Porter, but none raised my eyebrows. The kitchen closed at 20:00, which I didn’t realize, and by the time I went to place an order, they kindly accepted Pulled Pork Nachos, but it was literally just pulled pork over chips w some sweet BBQ sauce and slices of scallions. Would have been great if it came with some salsa, beans and/or guacamole, but maybe I was expecting too much... again, the view from the deck made up for the price! Would I return? Sure, nothing but for the view yeah!
