CR: Sunrise Trail Run & Natural Hot Springs @ Hotel Rincon de la Vieja Lodge

Trail running in the jungle with numerous bats that flew right up to my face to tease me in their unique way of greetings, ginormous spiders and their webs that trapped me countless of times, a distant howler monkey up on a tree waking up & howling, number of birds flying out in close proximity and their flapping almost causing me an heart attack... it is WILD! But, there was a time that a strikingly beautiful large blue morpho butterfly flew around me for a while proudly showing off its amazingly colorful wings. And better yet, the trail ends with a natural hot springs in off-white cream blue to turquoise blue at the perfect 40~41C temperature. Life is great here in Costa Rica! ¡Pura Vida! We highly endorse the stay at Hotel Rincon de la Vieja Lodge. Its gardens are full of blooming flowers, fruit trees and perfect for easy strolling. It also offers a bar, restaurant, swimming pool and complimentary breakfast. Better yet, its trail system within the property features a natural hot springs and little waterfalls that are definitely worth checking out! We could not believe that we were the only guest in the whole resort. Next time, we will definitely return to this hotel and spend at least two nights to explore the area more extensively. Rincon de la Vieja NP offers a lot of unique geo-formation, volcanic activities and you sure won't regret your time relaxing at this lodge during your stay. Two-thumbs up!!
