CR: Irazú Volcano National Park

Densely foggy and even drizzling at the time of our arrival, and we were fair-warned about the possibility of not having any visibility into the crater at the pay station although the ranger, at the same time, optimistically added that the clouds often pass by fairly quickly due to the strong winds. Still densely foggy with minimal visibility at the time we began hiking, but the little holes and gaps in the clouds gave us the much deserved sunshine just for a split moment to allow us to glimpse and capture the beautiful emerald-green-colored lagoon of the main crater of Irazú Volcano!! How amazing is that!? The emerald green isn’t the usual color of this crater lagoon if you reference the postcards and Google photos. I was expecting whitish-yellow to earthy colors, but whatever the chemical component that affected the color this day, it was strikingly beautiful emerald green! No, I ain’t color-blind! See for yourself to believe it! And, no, the photos aren’t photoshopped either! Good try! LOL
