What’s better than a free music festival! Morristown Jazz & Blues Fest has been one of the festivals I’ve been wanting to check out for many years, but somehow, I always had some other scheduling conflicts. Here I come at last!
Living in Jersey doesn’t necessarily mean it has a quicker and easier access to another city in Jersey when taking the public transportation. This trip was one of them. I ended up going through Manhattan to be more efficient though it appears
~ Lineup ~
Missed the first two acts (The Antoinette Montague Experience and The Frank Vignola Trio) by prioritizing the BPL triple-header starting at 7:30 am. The Manchester City vs Tottenham match was well worth it! What a dramatic ending! Gabriel Jesus’ surely game-winning goal was once again denied by the VAR! VAR seems to always work in favor of the Spurs! But what a deserving one point they snatched at away! This was a huge point to take away in the long season if they want to secure a seat in top four and possibly winning the title.

A fine local blues joint playing mostly the covers. Their tribute to Paul Butterfield Blues Band was the highlight of the set, half of which I missed by arriving little too late.
Bernard Allison (https://www.bernardallison.com/)

It’s been ten-some years since I caught Bernard, the son of the late great Luther, at the Western Maryland Blues Fest in Hagerstown, MD, if my memory serves correctly. He seems to have shrunk quite a bit. I remembered he was super juiced up back then. His set was partially designated to his father who is celebrating his birthday from the heaven with numbers like “Bad Love” and “Serious” with extended guitar solos. All in all, it was a fine show, which made the trip well worthwhile. He never disappoints the crowds with energy, passion and skilled guitar riffs.
Davy Knowles (https://davyknowles.com/)

As always, he set the fire with his guitar, and the crowds went totally nuts!
