Choosing the business hours on a week day, I was hoping that it’d be empty and enjoy the exhibit all to myself, but boy was I wrong!
Frida remains a popular artist almost a century after her visits here in the city, and the exhibit was flooded with people despite the timed entries. The gallery, when it came to her art pieces, was limited. I thought there would be more of her paintings I have never seen in person, but that wasn’t really the case.
However, I enjoyed the introductory video about the women of the XX tribe and their lifestyle. There are a lot of clothing in vibrant colors and jeweries in display to commemorate the Mexican Indians and Frida’s native roots.
There were also photography both in black-and-white and color prints portraying Frida from various times, including her visits to NYC.
Overall, it was an ok exhibit, but I would have enjoyed it more if the focus was more on her art work, but that’s just my personal preference.
