A Perfect Day Out

10 followers for Frances's away ride starting from the Wee Waif on the A4. An early dull morning rapidly developed into a warm sunny spells summer day as we rode off to our morning coffee stop at the Herb Farm. An interesting place complete with a maze. Sadly Jimbo found his way out of it. Lunch stop was at a quintessential English country pub The Cherry Tree Inn in the village of Stoke Row where we enjoyed our meals and drinks in the warm sunshine. Post lunch we cycled the few yards to Stoke Row's famous landmark the Maharajah's Well (all about it here http://www.stokerow.net/well1b.asp) to have a quick look before heading back to Reading. The morning part of the ride had featured a number of gentle climbs but post lunch we were treated to what seemed to be an endless swooping and whooshing through quiet country lanes to Reading where we followed the River Thames to Tescos for tea prior to our return to the Wee Waif. Faultless navigation by Frances and an excellent choice of stops - best ride of the year as far as I'm concerned. Puffing Loiterer
