Head south on Rte 24 from US I-70, about 10 miles west of the Price exit. Turn right on the paved road to Goblin Valley, then take the next left, following the signs to Goblin Valley. Follow that road a few miles and you will be in the area. Look for the parking area on the right either a cliffy ridge on your left. If you get to the park entrance, you passed it.

This was an excellent day ride in south central Utah, near Goblin Valley State Park. My friend, Jon Tanner, was my guide. Chute Canyon is a slot-canyon that runs for several miles from mouth to exit. There is a parking area that can handle several large truck/trailer rigs, but it will not show on this track, as we were camped elsewhere. Where we camped (see the start/end points of this track) there is room for two or three rigs, but the route in is pretty tight. I would not recommend attempting it with anything longer than a 4-horse gooseneck trailer. There is a small corral at the site and a running stream.
The ride is very pleasant in the spring, but gets very hot during summer months. In the fall, be careful with the weather, as flash floods are a regular occurrence and very dangerous.
The floor of this canyon is mostly sand punctuated by rocky areas. The canyon varies from about 10 to 100 feet wide with a fairly flat floor. The walls rise several hundred feet with no exit anywhere except at either end of the canyon. It is quite spectacular.
I’m sorry I didn’t take many photos. I spent my time trying to get good video footage. I didn’t get any stills inside the canyon. See Jon Tanner’s page for more photos.
