Visited Cameron SF for the first time. Drove around a bit, checked out the ponds, then hiked the only mapped and marked trail. Several other unmarked trails and old roads exist.
The trail is actually a gas pipeline ROW along a ridge, wide and grassy in places. Not a woods walk, but pleasant anyway. Passed through a couple pine plantation sections, but mostly hardwoods.
I stopped before a big downhill not being in the mood to climb it on the return, knowing that the trail ended shortly. On the return I took a spur out to an outcrop with a big view of the valley below. Some jerk had stuck a plastic bottle on a tree in the middle of the view, leaving their mark. I used a long stick to remove their mark.
I investigated part of an old road on the return, finding 2 wells in close proximity, which is pretty odd. Also some Large diameter pipes, but no structure foundations. Up near the road I found a foundation and a foundation hole, and a capped well. Looks like maybe they want to be able to test it.
Met one bowhunter on the outbound leg, saw one doe on the return. They didn't see each other.
