FLT M25 S Oxford Bridge West - 05/20/2018

Started a bit later than planned, but it doesn't get dark until after 7, so I decided I could do both sections. Rain the day before and an overcast morning meant getting wet to the knees walking through field weeds while skirting the growing gravel pit off Rt 12. By the time I returned the fields had dried. There were many signs of previous homesteading and farming - rocks along field edges, barbed wire fencing, reverting fields, a beautiful stone wall, sawmill site, foundation hole, and farm lanes. Also signs of old logging, with mucky logging roads to slog along and old stumps. At the end of the first section I came upon another hiker getting ready to hike the section to French Rd. As I started up the hill I told him that he would pass me soon, and he said probably not as he has a new hip. Hahaha. A few minutes later he passed me going up the hill. I was more his speed when it came to flat sections, and faster on the downhill, so we came together and pulled apart for the trip out and back. We came upon a section in the middle that was in rough shape due to downed trees.
