It loops around Beaver Lake, visiting several different habitat types and offering good views of the lake. Pocahontas State Park has many amenities, including camping, cabins, a swimming pool, boating, and fishing. The hike itself is fairly easy, but does have a few steep portions at the start of the path. Keep your eyes and ears open as you travel, because there is a wide variety of flora and fauna to be discovered. Note that some of the wildflowers shown in the trip were discovered on two separate trips - one in May and one in July. These wilflowers may not be in bloom when you take the hike. The May bloomers are noted in the text.
