Üntschenspitze 2135 m 7003 ft & Güntlespitze 2092 m 6862 ft.

The Üntschenspitze (also Üntscheller, Vordere Üntschenspitze) is a 2135 m high mountain near Schoppernau in the Austrian part of the Allgäu Alps. It is a steep grass mountain made of Rhenodanubian flysch with flanks up to 1000 meters high. The summit is accessible via mountain hiking trails and is an insider tip for ski mountaineers in winter. Started the Hike from the Bus Station at Landhaus Bad Hopfreben and followed a Nice Forest Road up to Vorderen Üntschenalpe (1.759m) passing Üntschenberg Vorsäß along the way. Once reaching the Alp the Road ends and I followed a Good Ski Trail up to Häfnerjoch (1979m). Where I turned left towards Güntlespitze 2092 m 6862 ft. Which is about a 20 Minutes away following the Ridgeline which is very narrow at times not to Call it Knife-edge but close enough and hard to pass other parties along the Way. Haven’t meet a Soul this Sunday Morning but near the Summit I encountered about 10 or more Skiers and Snowboarders (Amazed me how they get up the Mountain with Snowboards). Some Skiers I saw already skiing down the North Side which had better Snow Conditions than my Southern approach. Had to wait a bit at the Summit for a Party to leave before I had the Summit to myself. A Pole Marked the Highpoint and no Register. Soon after I returned the same way down towards Häfnerjoch and my Main Goal of the Day. Üntschenspitze which looked very impressive from Güntlespitze. Luckily the Weather was Great today and No Issues following the Cornices Ridgeline. Could be a real Danger in Bad Weather since it is narrow and a Fall down either side would not be Fun. The View is even better on this Peak and not so much visited. The Last Party was there a few Days ago and less than a Handful for this Year. A Pretty Summit Cross and Register. Returned the same way down to my Starting Point and while waiting for the Bus I got a hitchhike back to Damüls, saving ma a lot of time. A very enjoyable Day today and most importantly away from the Horde of People on Ski-slopes.
