Promontory Point was on my to do list for a very long time. So finally I made up my mind and it worked out to make into a happen. As it is only a short drive away from where I live I got an early start being the first Car at the Parking Lot, which is usually crowded. Just shortly after Sunrise I was on my way. On my way out I stayed up high for most of the times, which was a lot of side hilling and not pleasant at all. It also took me much longer than I thought it would. Eventually I made it up there where I found two Registers and the Benchmark. I went out to the further Point, which has also great views but is clearly lower in elevation. Amazing view from the rather unusual Point of being on a Peninsula. Definitely worth it but I was still not Happy the way I came up and needed to find some alternative route back which eventually worked out much better despite having to jump a Fence at one point. The Roads and Power Plant Structures around the Hoover Dam are a maze and rather confusing to get around. Eventually I made it down and jumped the Fence to get to the Railroad Tunnel Trail System, which I followed back to the Car. The amazing View made the trip worthwhile if nothing else.
Happy Hiking, Josef
