Sanbangsan & Yongmeori Tuff Ring

SanbangsanLegend has it that the tip of Mt.Halla was blown off and landed there to be Sanbangsan.Sanbangsan is a large lava done, resulted from the slow effusion of very viscous lava from a volcanic vent. The viscosity of the lava presents it from flowing far from the vent, causing it to solidify quickly and creating a done-like shape. It is a rare landform in Korea. The rock grotto located in the south of the mountain, which is composed of unusual looking rocks and cliffs is Sanbang Grotto Temple. Monks brought a Buddha status and have studied here since Goryeo Dynasty. The water dripping from the ceiling is believed to be the tears of the goddess who turned to rock.Yongmeori (Dragon Head) Tuff RingYongmeori is a remnant of a tuff ring, a type of hydromagmatic volcano with a relatively large crater compared with its height. Its name refers to its resemblance to a dragon's head, an effect caused by erosion over the millennia. Parking Lot Coordinates : 33.236103,126.311729
