Seven volunteers made it to the Pole Creek campsite to fix a few things. A previously scheduled workday was rained out. While there, a group of LSHTC backpackers hiked through, followed later by three SHTC/LSHTC hikers. Lots of visitors! And praise - we like that! Notes on the workday:
- The FS lock has been cut off the gate at Bethel road and FSR 231. Will notify the FS.
- Cut up the trees laying across the campsite into firewood size, stacked around the campsite. Plenty of wood there now!
- Replaced the kiosk, installed fresh notices. Need to move the mailbox over and haul the old kiosk off.
- Installed a "Pole Creek Campsite" sign. Also installed a "Wilderness" metal sign at the east LLCLT entrance into the wilderness.
- Removed the remains of an old dodge gate. Also cut the post stubs that were sticking up from the trail tread.
- Removed the broken sign at the west entrance to the LLCLT into the wilderness, Set a new sign post w/ LLCLT signs further from the wilderness signs. Also replaced the broken "wilderness warning" sign.
One of the volunteers started a fire to warm up by, a good idea!
