Hochrohkopf 1975 m 6478 ft.

Took the 9:00 Am Bus up to Jäger Stüble where I started my Hike at The Locked Gate. After putting on my Snowshoes I made my way up to Furkajoch in Deep Snow. Was the First Person to go up after the Recent Snow. Not very steep but a good workout to break trail. Once I reach the pass at Charly I made my way down the other side towards Laterns. Easy going downhill and soon after I picked up a ski trail which made it easier and no more trail-breaking for a while. Opposite I could see already Altgerachalpe which I aimed for or close by. One past the First Couple of Switchbacks I picked up another Ski Trail on the right side which was snowed in but clearly visible. I followed this track as good as I could to avoid trail-breaking and it worked pretty well for most part leading me up to the ridge. This was also the end of the Good trail and I turned Right or in a Westerly direction along the Ridgeline Traverse towards the Summit. Still about 0.3 Miles away with several up and downs. A truly magical traverse. Apart from the Ridgeline which is obvious to follow I had a Good Game-trail helping me navigate right or left around the Rocks. (Animals are very smart and go the path of least resistance ). Avalanche Warnings where high this Weekend and I had to be careful traversing the South Side Slopes as it got pretty warm already and the Snow was deep. North Side was not much of an Option since the Ridgeline was Corniced for most Part. I Made it safely to the Summit, marked with a Simple Cairn buried under the Snow but no Register or Summit Cross. the View was amazing as the Weather also cleared for a Short time and all nearby Peaks where visible. Sadly not much of a distance view today. Was tempted to go over the Summit and down the East Ridge but after looking closely at it, I opted against it. Just not safe enough in today's conditions even though it would have saved me a lot of time. So here I was and tracing my steps back down the West Ridge. No problem at all but at times I could hear the Snow crack which gave me a chill. Soon after I was down at the Road shortcutting most switchbacks in a more direct line. Now I had to go back up the Road to Furkajoch and down the other side towards my Starting Point. Along the downhill I got a great view towards Alpe Portla and decided to pay it a visit. This meant more time and detour but also more practice in Side Hilling in Steep Snow and Terrain. After the Alpe I followed the Summer-trail as per Map towards Oberdamülser Alpe. This trail I know already as I hike a few times per week. A great day to be in the mountains and enjoy nature. I did what I could to today considering the weather.
